Abbey Ryan American, b. 1979

Overview
“Daily painting is part of my mindfulness practice and daily meditative time.” - Abbey Ryan

Abbey Ryan (b. 1979) is a contemporary American painter celebrated for her exquisitely rendered still life and trompe-l'œil works in the tradition of classical realism. Inspired by 17th-century Dutch painting, her art is both meditative and meticulous, often created in the spirit of daily practice which is a hallmark of the "Painting-A-Day" movement she helped popularize.

Based in Philadelphia, Ryan studied with master painter David A. Leffel and earned degrees in painting, scientific illustration, and an MFA from Hunter College. Her work has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, Seth Godin's Linchpin, and is held in over 1800 collections worldwide.
